When to refer your patient:
- Sleeping and/or eating poorly, loss of energy and motivation
- Experiencing unreal thoughts, visions, smells or sounds
- Suspicious of people and can’t be reassured
- Forgetful, fearful and needing lots of reassurance
- Anxious, complaints that can’t be solved, focuses on certain things
- Talking about wanting to die
- Having difficulty with medications
- Difficult to redirect or is assaultive to family, staff or peers
